Loosid Sober Tip of the Day Jul 11

Much like we must learn how to handle resentment on a daily basis, we must also do the same with fear.

In recovery, there are a few strong acronyms we use for fear. One concentrates how we often let something that has not yet happened and may never happen run our lives.

F-E-A-R.

False expectations appearing real.

We have discussed this quite a bit and now if we are to live a life of serenity, we must learn to avoid worrying about the future, in the same way we can never regret the past.

There is another beautiful, very powerful acronym for fear.

F-E-A-R.

Face everything and recover.

This is the key to the kingdom. So many of us do not want to lean in and look into what it is that is causing our fear.

The truth is, leaning in and facing everything is uncomfortable.

It is also true that facing everything and going through that level of discomfort is the only thing that allows us to get to the other side.

In 12-Step programs, this is done in our inventory in steps 4 & 5, and in our amends steps, which are 8 & 9.

Just for today, be open to the possibility of facing everything that is blocking you.

You owe it to yourself the gift of a beautiful life.

For so long all my life it seems I have struggled with fear because of being molested for a year, growing up and abusive home, and then getting with abuser after abuser and my last one was so abusive and tried to kill me and threatened my life and my children's lives over and over and so I am now four years away from him and almost 4 years sober and I still struggle a little bit with fear that he's going to pop back my eye so this really really helps thank you for this message today

Living in fear all my life. Abused as a child, abusive ex to the point of miscarriage and toxic relationship that started while actively drinking and chose to leave after 3 1/2 years of sobriety. There are still fears i have to overcome .

Absolutely love this, not only did alcohol run my life but constantly have anxiety or anger for what "might happen" instead of living life and staying in the present with my kids and family destroyed me for so many years. Something im working on the last few months and feel mentally better.

My Acronym for FEAR is “forgot everything‘s all right.” saying this to myself shoots me back to faith pretty quick. Keeps me in the moment where everything in God‘s world ,is as it should be in the now.
