Loosid Sober Tip of the Day July 28

What is the quality of your sobriety?

In recovery, many people get fixated on the amount of sober time they have and compare it to others. As mentioned in a previous sober tip, the world record for sobriety is 24 hours and nobody has broken it yet!

Much like it’s never about the amount of years in one’s life, but rather the amount of life in one’s years, the same applies to sobriety.

Putting down the drink or the drug only allows us to enter a spiritual journey that we call recovery. Working a spiritual program allows us to be free from all the things that used to hold us back.

We often find people in recovery with only months of ‘sobriety time’ who are happy, joyous and free. Most often, this is because they actively work a spiritual program and, as a result, have what many people call ‘emotional sobriety’.

On the other side, there are many who have decades of ‘sober time’ who are miserable and still stuck in the bondage of self.

Freeing ourselves requires work, but the great news we all have the ability to achieve that freedom.

Find solace in the fact that you can be free any time you want. Choose freedom today. You deserve it.

Great information.!!!

I have no sobriety at the moment… I can’t stop

I needed to hear this today I have eight months back back but I’m in a toxic situation in my personal life and I don’t know how to get rid of it after 30 plus years

I am ready

Awesome reminder, thanks Loosid!

You can stop, you just have to want it

Me too

The quality is fantastic if I had to describe it in a word! Can’t explain why this time I decided to stop, for good, has felt so liberating? I’ve never been this at peace with the decision that I was finally done. I’m not religious but feeling blessed! It’s been remarkably without issue. I’m truly happy!:man_shrugging:t3: :v:t3:&:blue_heart:

I just made up my mind for about the 100th, or maybe the thousandth time that I’m going to try and quit again. At least I’m going to try- I think it’s when you quit even trying that all may be lost. I think if you’re reaching out like this, that deep down you really want to quit but need help. I need help too

I saw some people who mentioned they can't quit or need to try again. Just the decision to get back into recovery is an accomplishment. So many people don't make it back. If you are making any effort, for the first or millionth time, applaud yourself just for wanting more out of life and putting yourself through a struggle when it'd be easier not to. Be proud that you aren't just laying down and giving up. This is your life, just glad you're making it into more than using and suffering. Even the millionth try is an act of bravery and brilliance because not everyone is willing to give it up and so many end up with jails, institutions, and death.
