Loosid Sober Tip of the Day July 29

Identify, don’t compare.

When we come into a spiritual program of recovery, many of us will find that we compare our stories with others.

We may feel we have not reached the desperate levels others have or, alternatively, we may look at our stories and think that we have had a much rougher time.

It is not our job to take the inventory of others.

It is very important never to compare stories, but rather identify with the feelings.
Look for the similarities, not the differences.

When we focus on similarities, we will invariably find them.

Comparing stories and spending time on taking another’s inventory only keeps me busy building up my ego.
Looking for the similarities builds my spiritual program, my empathy skills and my ability to build bridges across differences that will allow me to help others the way others have helped me.
It will help me to let go of always having to be the center of attention.

It seems to be constant in that I find I slip back to comparing so it’s a great reminder there’s always more work to be done. Amen
