Loosid Sober Tip of the Day March 13

There is a stigma that when you get sober, life, as we know it, will be the end of fun.

This stigma could not be further from the truth. In fact, it is quite the opposite.

When we put down the drink or drug and decide to live life on life’s terms, the world opens up for us.

One of the first things we realize is how much of life was wasted on our time drinking or putting substances in our body. Just a few hours a day for happy hour during the week, turns into 40 extra hours a month of quality time.

That could be taking time to learn a new skill, spending more time with your family, working out, meditating, volunteering to help those in need, the list is endless.

Take a few moments to reflect on how many hours were spent each week on drinking or putting substances in your body. If you are just starting out, get excited, as you are about to enter a world of more time to build incredible experiences.

If you have been sober a while, let us know what you have done since you stopped wasting these precious hours days and years that make up this thing we have called life.

How did this tip resonate with you? Let us know your thoughts below. There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

With Love, Loosid :pray::heart:

The second I chose sobriety over the temporary bliss of alcohol, my life changed for the better. I’m unfortunately stuck with lifelong health complications because of my poor decisions but those are the consequences of my action. Despite that, choosing to eat healthier, exercise more and express gratitude DAILY for the little things made a HUGE difference.

Every day has been a good day for me since sobriety, but it helps twice as much being in therapy and support workshops. Self help exercises, volunteering in my community and others, as well being kind to myself/others makes my days just as brighter. Even if I’m not having a good day, being alive and mentally/emotionally well is good enough to leave me grateful.

When I was 90 days sober, someone said to me, "if you really want to improve yourself via sobriety, go volunteer to help feed the hungry". That one suggestion changed my outlook on life and I'm still feeding the hungry, 7 sober years later. Trust God, clean house, help others...a simple instruction with formidable outcomes.

Other than The Grace of God, A.A. 3 times a week (or more), my family still behind me, I just stay busy. Keep the obsession of the mind at bay. One can consider not only the time consuming bull****, but also the lying, cheating, making sure u have booze, stealing to get it, isolating, ETC. U wanna talk about fun? I’m having the best time of my life :grin:

This really resonated with me by showing me how much time I have wasted having a better life for myself. Now that I am Sober and free of my selfishness I can start putting my time towards things that benefit my life like being of service, doing God‘s will, instead of my own, and spending quality time, bettering my life and helping others.

I am so looking forward to living my best life! I am 4 days sober and excited for the future!
