Loosid Sober Tip of the Day March 17

Hitting rock bottom.

Many people talk about having to reach rock bottom before coming into a spiritual program of recovery.

But how do we know we have reached rock bottom?

The answer is simply when we decide to stop digging.

It is not necessary that we lose everything. It is not necessary to lose our job, lose our families, or lose our home.

We do not even need to decide whether or not we have a problem.

All that is needed is a desire to stop drinking (or drugging).

We often come to the realization that we have a problem once we are able to identify with others and hear their problems.

It is at this point that we look further into a spiritual journey of recovery. Though our experiences are different, the feelings of isolation and the need to get out of the now are the same.

I learn & feel from others that are people I have in common, a bond to recover and Share our spiritual growth

For me I had been an Alcoholic Addict for 50yrs and was Successful, until I Lost EVERYTHING INCLUDING MY DIGNITY, HEALTH, SELF-RESPECT AND SELF WORTH Because that's All I Knew TO be NORMAL TO ME AND SETTLED FOR THAT (UNTIL ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH) And I knew I couldn't do this anymore even though it took me 50yrs

I have hit rock bottom many times over and over losing everything I have. Or going to jail or prison. Until I lost my self respect and my dignity is when I was truly at my rock bottom.

My rock bottoms have basements followed by crawl spaces and an elevator that only goes down

I lost my business and became homeless for 3 years but during those 3 years I started to dig myself out and set goals for myself and now I ha e a place and I'm an advocate as well as a Humanitarian for those who are still struggling with addiction

What an amazing feat. Ty for giving hope to others.
