Loosid Sober Tip of the Day March 25

Why me vs. Why Me

Many times, people ask to themselves, ‘Why did this happen to me?’ … ‘Why did I have to be an alcoholic (or addict)’ …‘Why can’t I drink?’… Why can I not control my drinking when so many people can?’

It is incredibly important to remember, there are two ways you can approach ‘why me’

There is another side of why me.

‘Why am I so lucky to have the ability to get better when so many others don’t?’

‘Why am I so lucky that I have a disease that is 100% treatable so long as I work a program on a daily basis?’

‘Why was I able to get the gifts of the program while so many other people are sick and suffering.’

‘Why am I so lucky to change my life and live in service to others… and to the same people I used to hurt?’

Choose to pick the right ‘why me’ today. If you are reading this it means you have started your journey to build a beautiful life

So true!!!! Why do I find it easy to believe in a higher power but still want me will?

Exactly. Being an alcoholic and not being able to ingest poison like other people is not so bad.

I believe it’s because we are seeking what we are use to do. If all we have known is trusting drugs and alcohol, it takes time trusting a higher power. Our minds still wants to do what it knows, while our heart is seeking a different way of life. Keep on keeping on and a knew way of thinking will be your knew way of life.

Why not me. I have learned that God gives the battles like this to His strongest soldiers!

I absolutely love this.. & will read it daily to remind me... I can do this. Looove

This is blissfully beautiful! The wrong why me is an invitation to a Pity party! I can say in early recovery I was all about the wrong why me. I went round and round with why did this happen to me, why can’t my ex wife forgive me, why why why!!!!
It took sometime, working the step with a sponsor and now passing on the message to other willing alcoholics to put aside the why’s and to start living in the now’s.
Today I can say I’m blessed to be an alcoholic. A recovered alcoholic. One who has sobriety in his life 24 hours a day.
I want to say Thank you to God, AA, Loosid and all of those that was of service to me for the past 2 years 3 months!
Today I don’t need to worry about the Why’s. I’m living in this moment right now. Attitude of gratitude. Have a blessed day Loosid community!

I was literally just sharing with someone on here how I feel blessed to have this disease because it forces me to look at my flawed thinking and character defects when so many "normies" go through life with the same attitudes, beliefs, defects etc and either don't realize it or don't care to change it.
