Loosid Sober Tip of the Day March 9

Our disease is waiting outside for us in the parking lot doing pushups.

This phrase is heard quite often when working a spiritual program of recovery to remind ourselves what is waiting for us should we ever choose to go back to our previous way of life.

We know this because, sadly, many people go out on a regular basis, and we have clear evidence what happens for those who actually make it back.

We have seen countless people come back completely shocked that their disease was as bad as it ever was and even more realize that it was infinitely worse.

Why? Because it was doing pushups waiting for us.

Here is then great news… you NEVER need to find out.

There are tens of millions of us in recovery here to walk with you on this journey together.

The journey is beautiful when we do it together. It is quite treacherous when we try it alone.

How did this tip resonate with you? Let us know your thoughts below. There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

It definitely does push-ups! Sometimes I get ashamed to tell people I don’t/can’t drink in fear of being a dork or alone. But in reality I have been staying more at home to avoid the subject. How do you overcome the fear of just owning my disease and helping my family understand it, they think it’s a choice, which it is but also they don’t understand the struggle.

I’m doing push-ups too. Be a beast about your sobriety!

I’m a non drinker now. I’m at a point where it’s hard to imagine that I’ll ever crave another drink again. I just don’t want the stuff in my system anymore. But I also realize that I cannot take sobriety for granted, since booze is being peddled and promoted everywhere. Loosid is such a great tool, it helps with doing ‘sober push up’s’ every day :v:

Our disease is never as far away as the parking lot.

I came up with a standard answer to why I'm not drinking. Then it is interesting to see who is ok and who is really uncomfortable with it

Sober push ups…..great line….

Curious. What is ur standard answer?

I take 3 RX meds. That are labeled so not mix with alcohol. I also feel I owe no one any explanation about not drinking. A news report on CBS this morning said a study showed that just 1 alcoholic drink per day destroys our brain cells. There is no level of safe drinking. Tell someone you choose good health over drinking alcohol.

I am not open about mine with family either it’s really rough

"I had some digestive issues and stopped alcohol to see if it would help and I felt so much better I can't see any reason to drink again. " generally all true.

I like that answer. It’s pretty much generally true for me too!
