Loosid Sober Tip of the Day May 08

Identify, don’t compare.

When we come into a spiritual program of recovery, many of us will find that we compare our stories with others.

We may feel we have not reached the desperate levels others have or, alternatively, we may look at our stories and think that we have had a much rougher time.

It is not our job to take the inventory of others.

It is very important never to compare stories, but rather identify with the feelings.
Look for the similarities, not the differences.

When we focus on similarities, we will invariably find them.

My thoughts are we here to build each other up. We can find similarities but we should never judge one another this is supposed to be a safe place for all. Thank your higher power pulled you from the same pit of despair. We are all recovering addicts one bad choice from a relapse. Encourage not destroy.

Another tip I really needed to hear I find myself comparing myself to other people all the times in the rooms. Then when I start listening in my head I start thinking oh this person has this how are they not happy or that person didn't do this how is he not okay. Maybe it's because when I go to meetings it's people who aren't around my age dealing with the problems I currently struggle with. But even when I go to meetings with younger people I still don't feel like I fit in since most people are in sober houses and I'm not..idk I struggle with this a lot and when I hear some people talk it makes me think what I have to say isn't important but it should be important to me. I just gotta stop caring so much about what other people say or think. I'm rambling now lol. Thanks to whoever reads this
