Loosid Sober Tip of the Day May 17

There is a stigma that when you get sober, life, as we know it, will be the end of fun.

This stigma could not be further from the truth. In fact, it is quite the opposite.

When we put down the drink or drug and decide to live life on life’s terms, the world opens up for us.

One of the first things we realize is how much of life was wasted on our time drinking or putting substances in our body. Just a few hours a day for happy hour during the week, turns into 40 extra hours a month of quality time.

That could be taking time to learn a new skill, spending more time with your family, working out, meditating, volunteering to help those in need, the list is endless.

Take a few moments to reflect on how many hours were spent each week on drinking or putting substances in your body. If you are just starting out, get excited, as you are about to enter a world of more time to build incredible experiences.

If you have been sober a while, let us know what you have done since you stopped wasting these precious hours days and years that make up this thing we have called life.

How did this tip resonate with you? Let us know your thoughts below. There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

Since I have been sober I have:
1.) Got a new car last year since my old car was rusting and needed to go
2.) Got a new phone screen since my screen was dropped so many times from being messed up
3.) Started the tattoo removal process for a tattoo from a previous relationship that I regret
4.) Got new shoes
5.) Got my new car windows tinted.

I am sure I am missing things and a lot of these things are materialistic stuff but it's money I wouldn't spend on these things because my budget for alcohol/drugs was at least $200 a week. This life ain't easy but once you start changing the stuff you don't like it slowly helps. That's my 2 cents.

I am working har to save for retirement, an while it is obvious after a short time in recovery, time for me has expanded and given more time for family and home projects I couldn't/wouldn't do drunk. I am hoping I can stay on this path, not only for time now, but more time alive after retirement to see my young grandchildren grow up.

I “started” many projects in my drinking career that never materialized. Big ambitions. No ability to get anything done A.F.U. I stay busy with all kinda stuff now. Keeps me out of the tavern.

Since I quit drinking. I got my driver's license back. I just bought a new car. I also, bought a new smart t, laptop PC. Best of all , with the help of my sister . I now have a new townhouse. I do not have to pay rent to anyone anymore.
