Loosid Sober Tip of the Day May 23

There is a saying, “For those amongst us no explanation is necessary. For those not amongst us no explanation is possible.”

We often get frustrated when friends or family members don’t understand why we do what we do.

The truth is, if they are not one of us, they cannot and will not be able to identify with what we are feeling.

This is the beauty of connecting with people who share your common bond.

Surround yourself who can identify with what you are going through. Though our experiences are different, the feelings of loneliness, isolation, and the need to get out of the now remain the same.

I understand this all too well. I'm an alcoholic and my family doesn't understand. I have relapsed many times. They don't understand why it's so hard for me just to quit. Today, I'm 20 days sober. I have to go to meetings almost everyday so I don't drink. This disease is terrible! One minute at a time!

Having a fellowship is so important in sobriety! Working the steps as a group, & having people to call when I need to get out of self - sitting in it just let's my disease get stronger, and will k*ll me or take me out on an 'adventure ' *stay connected *!!

I disagree. As written there is inherent separation and stigmatization-not acceptable. It should go more like this..
“For those amongst us no explanation is necessary; For those not amongst us no explanation is necessary.”

I really don't have support, I haven't been around other's who are like me. I don't go to in person meetings, only zoom. It doesn't bother me though.

recovery, like addiction can be a very lonely place..

I just got this app as something to check out. I didn't plan on sending a reply to anyone. But,here i am. I don't have support or a group to go to and I've been to AA meetings a few times in person. It DID help going in person. You should probably try for the sake of trying. I mean, here you are posting and it seems like you need help. So, I think it's worth a try since I myself am trying to help others. It helps me by being an example of support for you. In person, you could find others just like us and connect. It could open up different avenues and all for the betterment of yourself. I'm learning what it means to " love yourself ", and learning what it means to " take care of yourself " too. I don't have anyone and I work as much as possible...70hrs a week. I do so to stay busy and too tired to get into trouble. I am lonely but peace is pretty nice too keep your head up and stay positive. Surround yourself with good people, successful people and success in your life will follow. A dream is just a try away.

I grateful for the people in my life that support with understanding me. I call it unconditional Love
