Loosid Sober Tip of the Day May 24

Home is not where you live but where they understand you.

So many of us are confused or even frustrated why our friends or loved ones don’t understand why we cannot stop on our self-will alone.

Even more of us buy into what our friends or loved ones tell us about our addiction.

They may say we don’t have enough willpower. They may tell us to just say no.

They may also try to explain to us if they can moderate their drinking, we should be able to do the same. This is 100% incorrect.

Don’t be upset with them. Not even for a minute. Remember, those amongst us no explanation is necessary. Those not amongst us, no explanation is possible.

This is why it is of critical importance to surround yourself with other people who share your common bond. It matters not where we come from.

We may come from a beautiful loving home, or we way come from a place where home was absolute chaos.

Each day, remember that home is not where you live but where they understand you.

Find your home today. Connect with others who understand. Though our experiences may be different, the feelings of isolation are the same.

I def felt this because my family don’t understand my gram thinks that I love the drugs more than my daughter and it’s not true but she’s making me feel that way ..

This is why my Fellows are better than family

Thanks! :heavy_heart_exclamation:

I spent a long time believing that AA was a waste of time. I thought I could do it alone. I found out that is absolutely false. Having the support and friendships with a community of people that understands what I go through is the most important part of my recovery journey. As I begin this journey I look forward to all the experiences this community has to offer. I am so grateful to be here.

I have been right outside the herd for a while due to my inability to get anywhere I want like a meeting or a commitment. I compensate with reaching out, I ask for rides of course, and I even started an unofficial meeting with a few close sober friends on FaceTime. But this reading tonight reminded me just how crucial it is to surround myself with like minded AA peoples. Sober peoples. So I will put even more effort into my recovery and putting myself in the very middle of the herd.
