Loosid Sober Tip of the Day May 28

What does it mean to ‘work’ a program of recovery?

Many people get scared off by the word ‘work’ when we hear this phrase.

Working a program of recovery is very much like anything else in life.

If we are athletes, we know what it is like to go to physical therapy in order to recover from our injury.

When we want a certain career, we need to work to get a degree or a license that will allow us to enter that field, whatever it may be.

Whether it is a truck driver, a nurse, a doctor, an electrician, a lawyer… we need to work to be able to survive and flourish.

In recovery, the only difference is a big one because ‘the work’ is a matter of life and death.

So why are so many of us unwilling to save our own lives?

Since there are no ‘credentials’, ‘licenses’ or ‘degrees’ that are laid out, millions of us do not qualify ourselves as having a problem until it is too late.

Just for today, take solace in the fact that just by reading this, you are in the right place.

Once you know you are in the right place, give yourself the gift today to start your work.

In 12-step programs, the work is clearly defined and is typically gone through with your sponsor. There are many meetings you can go to at any given time.

If you wish to follow other spiritual programs of recovery, ask questions and begin your journey today.

If you have been in recovery a while and work a spiritual program of recovery, share below the work you do to remain (emotionally) sober one day at a time.

There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

With Love, Loosid :pray::heart:

Next month on the 21st, will make 6 years for me. For me, I get up every morning and intentionally choose me. I choose to show up…whatever that looks like each day. Sometimes I’m a little late…sometimes I’m early, but I show up. And I don’t forget that I’m only one choice away from being who I never want to be again. Of course, when my busy schedule permits, I’ll hit a local meeting to keep myself in check. Just for today! ODAAT!

I get up everyday and remind myself I am a alcoholic and always will be. Then I ask God to help me today not to drink,be a good person and make good choices. I try to go to a meeting everyday. Meetings are my safe place. I'm almost 60 years old and I'm 3 years sober. It works for me!!

Today will make 7 weeks if i get through the day. I want to have a drink, but I'm just doing day at a time. Some times hour at a time. I just don't feel the 12 step sponsor thing, I pray in writing and all my thoughts daily. I might try to find an na meeting, but there are not any that I can find. For me, it's a little more complicated than just drinking though

I am 6 mo months sober , I stopped drinking cuz I had a scare , then I moved to another state , know nobody , not around alcohol, sure I could go buy it , but I’m alone & think = how pathetic. Then I thought if I take a drink “who would know ? “ i don’t want that lifestyle. I went to AA , I just listen to every ones struggles , it helps to know other people going thru the same thing

I went to two meetings today :grinning: and it really opened my eyes on my recovery and were I am at its not the quantity it's the ability to learn and change
