Loosid Sober Tip of the Day November 21

Compare and despair.

Yesterday, we talked about how important it is to identify with the feelings and never to compare stories.

Comparing ourselves to others is a trap that too many people in recovery find themselves.

When we compare ourselves to others, we lose sight of the entire reason why we are in recovery… to connect with likeminded others who share our common bond.

Comparison is the death of happiness. We must look toward others with hope and, for those who may be sicker than others, we must choose empathy.

When we compare, we either feel worse about ourselves or we feel better than others. Self-pity or ego. Either path is the wrong path.

Make a commitment today to not compare yourself to others. You are exactly where you need to be.

How did this tip resonate with you? Let us know your thoughts below. There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

I may not be where I want to be but I'm where I NEED to be sober thanks to my higher power and my sponsor and my support network for continuing to support me through this journey :heartpulse:

Every engine is designed with a specific purpose in mind. Mine was designed for high torque performance. But for too long I expected fuel economy out of myself and devalued myself comparing myself to others and of course never measuring up. When I love, live, and embrace my own beautiful design and others for theirs I'm magnetic, I'm radiating, I'm loving and a positive ray of happy SOBER sunshine and everybody around me feels it. Comparing ourselves to others and others to ourselves is like comparing a 2.0 L to a 5.7 Hemi or lizards to lions...it just doesn't make sense and never leads to good feelings. Sending lots and lots of big hugs high fives and good vibes your way!!! :hugs:🩷:hugs:
