Loosid Sober Tip of the Day November 24

Understanding powerlessness.

When we say we are powerless over alcohol or substances, it’s important to understand what this means as powerlessness is often perceived as negative or ‘weak’.

Many of us think it means we are not strong enough. We don’t have enough will power. Others amongst us think if we are tough enough, we can beat it. We just need to try harder.

So we try again. We will do better next time… and then the next.

We are baffled as no matter how hard we try it simply doesn’t work. Or, for others, it works… until it doesn’t.

What you need to know is powerlessness IS the very power that allows us to get better.

It is accepting the fact that we have a disease. Once we understand that we have a disease, we realize IT IS NOT OUR FAULT.

Powerlessness over alcohol is the same as if you had diabetes and were powerless over your body’s ability to produce insulin. Your body either doesn't make enough insulin or can't use its own insulin as well as it should.

You can also be in incredible shape and have high blood pressure.

Despite the fact we are powerless whether we have diabetes or high blood pressure, there is effective treatment for both.

Here’s the great news…

If you are an alcoholic or addict, know that it is 100% treatable as well.

The first step, however, is to accept that you are powerless, only then will you be ready to accept treatment to get better.

Powerlessness is something I truly don’t believe in…I honestly believe in, “Mind over Matter”…. If you really really really want something in your life you’ll do anything to get it, reach your goals in life, or achieve it no matter what obstacles are in your way…my opinion is that if a person can’t seem to quit drugs or alcohol is because deep down in side them they truly don’t want to quit.. it’s either because they can’t accept change in their lives, or they feel like they have no reason to quit, or deep down inside them they are ok with the way they are living. Yes I am aware of the addictive DNA that we can inherited from our ancestors but I say what about free will….I honestly believe that addiction is not a disease but a choice, mind over matter, You chose what matters in your life period…I believe that it’s these habits, the cycles of the same thing over and over, is what keeps us in a rut…if we can break that cycle/habit I believe we can over come our addictions…much love

Sweetie, then why are you here....

Because I’m sober and I like to keep sober company these days..I quit drinking and meth cold Turkey only because I was ready and had my mind set for good to let it go…I still smoke marijuana though.. it’s the only thing that isn’t chemicals/meds that actually helps with my PTSD.. so I continue with the green…I also like to hopefully be there for someone on here that might need a listening ear you know.. I’m here to hopefully be of help to someone…I do care you know, allot…. I hope that kinda answers your question… Much love
