Loosid Sober Tip of the Day October 11

Facing Life on Life’s Terms

When we get sober, we no longer numb out life’s problems.

We actually feel our feelings for the first time, and often times, for most of us, this can be very overwhelming.

Take solace in knowing that you are now facing life on life’s terms.

When you face life on life’s terms and find solutions to challenges as opposed to running away from them, you get better at life.

Will it be uncomfortable at first? Absolutely.

During this time, it is very important to reach out to other people who have been in recovery and have some sober reference.

These are the people who will get you through these challenging times.

In unity there is strength.

In early recovery I found with some help that I needed to fire my wife because she didn't want me to be sober. This was my 1st huge lesson on living life on life's terms. After all the advice not to make big decisions or take big steps during early recovery it was 1st 1st kind of difficult to accept that this was something I could not wait not wait to handle. But with the help of AA and it's fellowship I've been making it through pretty well. God willing in the Creek don't rise tomorrow I'll celebrate 6 months... Finally after 10 years in-and-out of AA.

I needed this today. I am 76 days sober and have been feeling this way this past week. I am powering through, reaching out , not isolating, using my tools. 1 day at a time. Keep it simple. Grateful I am sober. Problems are much worse when alcohol is involved.
