Loosid Sober Tip of the Day October 22

There is a stigma that when you get sober, life, as we know it, will be the end of fun.

This stigma could not be further from the truth. In fact, it is quite the opposite.

When we put down the drink or drug and decide to live life on life’s terms, the world opens up for us.

One of the first things we realize is how much of life was wasted on our time drinking or putting substances in our body. Just a few hours a day for happy hour during the week, turns into 40 extra hours a month of quality time.

That could be taking time to learn a new skill, spending more time with your family, working out, meditating, volunteering to help those in need, the list is endless.

Take a few moments to reflect on how many hours were spent each week on drinking or putting substances in your body. If you are just starting out, get excited, as you are about to enter a world of more time to build incredible experiences.

If you have been sober a while, let us know what you have done since you stopped wasting these precious hours days and years that make up this thing we have called life.

How did this tip resonate with you? Let us know your thoughts below. There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

With Love, Loosid :pray::heart:

Since I have stopped drinking (263days) I have enjoyed learning to cook and bake things. I have even considered starting a cooking channel. I also enjoy gardening. In the winter, like last winter, I enjoyed coloring with my glitter pens in adult coloring books. It's not for everyone, but I have found solace in these things. The most important though has been prayers and reflection on my day, what I didn't do and want to improve on.

Great read this morning!

Since I have stopped drinking ( 4 years) I have been hiking almost every weekend during the summer, white water rafting, tubing, kayaking, and volunteering at the Warren mission and getting girls from sober houses and taking them to meetings and other places and going to events with my Celebrate Recovery family telling others about Celebrate Recovery, going to concerts, festivals and fairs and during the winter time going to museums and sledding... And I'm going to spend Christmas with my daughter in Texas and Easter with my daughter in North Carolina.... I've had more fun in these short 4 years then I've had my entire life....

Since I got sober I've started a new career, regained my nail tech license, enrolled in school to be a recovery specialist, I've taken trips and spent quality time with my kids like never before. I've met some really amazing ppl on my journey too and next week I'm attending a rally with my sponsor to promote our chapter of fully free which I'm super excited about. Sobriety has opened all kinds of new doors for me and I'm so excited to see what my higher power has in store for me :purple_heart:

I actually fall asleep with my husband now. We talk as we pass out. I'm 35 days sober and it's been so nice to just be present! My husband said I'm a lot nicer now and we don't fight anymore. He said I was a mean drunk. My heart aches as I think of nights I hurt him and wasted time... precious time. But with the help of JESUS those days are in the past and I can move forward soaking up every precious moment and actually living. :heart::sunrise: It's a new day. And the Bible says GOD'S mercies are new every morning. Thank GOD for forgiving loved ones!!! :latin_cross::raised_hands:

I bought into the lie that I'd never have fun without drinking. It definitely kept me out there longer. I finally got desperate enough to try quitting anyway. I'm glad that I went to AA because they led the way to show me how much fun it was to be sober. It was the opposite of what I thought. My life has been way better and a lot more fun in sobriety. Thank God :pray:

Since I have stopped using my relationship with my children have gotten so much better and I am a grandma loving it going and spending quality time with them it's just amazing I love it
