Loosid Sober Tip of the Day October 23

You can turn a cucumber into a pickle, but you can't turn a pickle back into a cucumber.

In recovery, we often use this term to explain that, once an alcoholic or addict, always and alcoholic or addict.

This great obsession of alcoholics and addicts is to think one day we can drink or use again in moderation.

To combat this ‘stinking thinking’, many of us admit our powerlessness over the drink or drug in our daily practice.

This allows us to withdraw from the debating society in order that we don’t waste energy on things we cannot change.

Remember, alcoholism and addiction is 100% treatable.

For this reason, many of us find ourselves beyond grateful for having a disease which we can put in remission on a daily basis provided we work a spiritual program.

Today, choose to accept being a pickle today. Life is too short to spend it trying to turn back into a cucumber.

Very true but let’s support all in there indeavors

I'm so glad I can't turn back into a cucumber! My life as a cucumber was terrific! It was full of blackouts, abuse, close calls and doing or putting up with stuff I've never had to put up in recovery! Sometimes I'm a spicy pickle( I would call life) that active alcoholism when there's problems! Which I think a drink will solve or forget the problem! Then there's a sweet pickle. That's when my life is going good because I'm working my program one day at a time and doing the next right thing! So I want to. stay a pickle! God and AA are Great!:pray:t2::dromedary_camel:

Im grateful to be pickled if I wasn't I never would have gotten back so many rewards of the freedom I am experiencing now.

Thank God for waking up face 1st on the ground one too many times, wouldn't want that pickle back in a million years just a sick feeling.
