Loosid Sober Tip of the Day October 26

The challenge and the opportunity.

Yesterday, we discussed how so much of our time is often spent on focusing on our problems.

At the end of yesterday’s tip, we started a worksheet by simply creating two columns on top. PROBLEMS on one side, and SOLUTIONS on the other.

We then replaced ‘problems’ with CHALLENGE and ‘solutions’ with OPPORTUNITY.

The words we write or say, dictates our emotional distress or serenity.

The word PROBLEM, in and of itself puts most of us in a negative mindset. Changing the word to CHALLENGE can create a drastic shift in our attitude.

Just for today, write down the top 5 challenges you have on the left side of the column.

On the right side, write down a few steps that you can take for each one to address that problem.

You will realize that there are multiple opportunities to address each challenge and that the opportunity column (formerly known as the solution column) starts filling up more space.

Now you have started focusing on the solution.

Make sure to give yourself credit for doing this today. Congratulate yourself the same way you would someone else. You deserve it.

How did this tip resonate with you? What did your list look like? If you didn’t have a chance to make a list yet, tell us your thoughts. Post your comment below. There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

With Love, Loosid :pray::heart:

This is a great idea! I don’t want this to be confused with taking your inventory step 4 of AA. For me working the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous is the first step towards sobriety.
Writing down your resentments, fears, and sex conduct is a great way to look at who you are as a human. Then you can let go of these mental blockages that we hold on to so tightly. Next in step 8 we write down our harms list. Here is the people, places, and institutions we had harmed. We discussed our inventory, we looked at who we had harmed, no we get to make amends to those we had harmed.
After we complete these big steps we can now walk a freeman. With a clear mind and a new outlook on life.
Then I feel this new life tool will be useful to us.
Thank you for letting me be of service. 12 steps first. Help others. Expand you mind. Pray

I definitely will be using this as a tool to gage where I’m at in life, in recovery, and as a way to track my goal keeping success. I feel that this can be accompanied with the 12 steps as a way to help clarify things & either include or forego including in a personal inventory and/or amends list.

One problem I have is giving tough love to everyone. My solution is to be attentive to my community and how each person communicates. My communication skill should be based on how they communicate and understand. Not my way.
