Loosid Sober Tip of the Day October 31

Our disease is waiting outside for us in the parking lot doing pushups.

This phrase is heard quite often when working a spiritual program of recovery to remind ourselves what is waiting for us should we ever choose to go back to our previous way of life.

We know this because, sadly, many people go out on a regular basis, and we have clear evidence what happens for those who actually make it back.

We have seen countless people come back completely shocked that their disease was as bad as it ever was and even more realize that it was infinitely worse.

Why? Because it was doing pushups waiting for us.

Here is then great news… you NEVER need to find out.

There are tens of millions of us in recovery here to walk with you on this journey together.

The journey is beautiful when we do it together. It is quite treacherous when we try it alone.

How did this tip resonate with you? Let us know your thoughts below. There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

With Love, Loosid :pray::heart:

I have been sober this time for about 5 months and 28 days one day at a time… I’m 55 years old and I’ve hit many bottoms .I never thought AA was my cup of tea,but this time I was so broke down and smashed up I needed to surrender to a higher power,and get a sponsor and start working the steps… I am willing to go to any lengths to stay sober and my life is already looking up in a short time…God bless and keep coming back!

Gm. Do not pick up, no matter what, and go to a meeting. We alcoholics have a disease. If left untreated there are three options: arrest, hospital, or death. The great news is there is a solution. You don’t ever have to feel this way again. AA will help you stay sober, have a sober and good life, and save your life. I’m 10 years sober one day at a time…

Wow, that is something to think about! I started with 5 push ups a day in early recovery 19/20 and worked my way up. It’s a goal to do as many push ups as I am years old during week days (will be 32 at the end of this upcoming month!) — have to keep myself fit against the one in the parking lot :wink:

Didn’t make my regular meeting this week and feeling crappy. Not gonna drink but just feel crappy. I’m hitting a meeting to day NO MATTER WHAT bc I need to remind myself how much I need this.

I love it! I did the same thing! Hit 40 push-ups right before I turned 40 this year… it was a beautiful accomplishment for me. And I’m still doing my daily push-ups.

I was sober for three years no program. My disease was doing push-ups and steroids! Cause when I decided I could drink again it took me down the darkest and deepest path I never thought was possible! However, today I’m sober. Today I strive to help other alcoholics. To help the general public where I can. To be the father I wasn’t to my son. I can thank all of this to God, Kasier (hospital), treatment facility I went to for 30 days, AA, NA, life ring, recovery dharma, friends I’ve made and my family!
Ultimately I owe my ex-wife some gratitude for doing what she did to get me to wake up. I’m not that guy anymore. I’m ready to have a joyous and at peace life. And a big thanks to all of you here on Loosid!

Day 32 and feeling great! Was wondering if anyone in here has taken the drug topimax or toprimate to help control cravings? Primarily used for migraines and seziures but is said to help with alcohol as well.
