Loosid Sober Tip of the Day Sep 17

Compare and despair.

Yesterday, we talked about how important it is to identify with the feelings and never to compare stories.

Comparing ourselves to others is a trap that too many people in recovery find themselves.

When we compare ourselves to others, we lose sight of the entire reason why we are in recovery… to connect with likeminded others who share our common bond.

Comparison is the death of happiness. We must look toward others with hope and, for those who may be sicker than others, we must choose empathy.

When we compare, we either feel worse about ourselves or we feel better than others. Self-pity or ego. Either path is the wrong path.

Make a commitment today to not compare yourself to others. You are exactly where you need to be.

Love this!

Sometimes my ego is so huge, it feels as though I will not be able to fit my head through the doorway.

Each day I ask for help, get right sized, and work on deflating my ego.

The moment that I compare myself to someone, is the exact moment that my self-centeredness creeps back in.

I am no more and no less than anyone else; and just being aware of that fact, allows me to get out of myself and be useful .

The best person that I can ever be, is when I am helping someone else.

Yesssssss

We all share a common bond, and yet we are all so uniquely different
