Loosid Sober Tip of the Day Sep 23

Y-E-T.

You’re eligible too.

If you have been around recovery for a while, you have most likely heard this acronym before.

The reason why this acronym is so important is because it explains the progression of the disease.

If you are an alcoholic or addict, what you will find is the disease gets worse, never better.

We deceive ourselves into thinking we are in control because:

We have not lost our job… YET

We have not lost our house… YET

We have not lost our children… YET

We have not gone to jail… YET

We have also heard people say:

We only drink, but have never done cocaine…YET

We only do cocaine but have never done crack… YET

We only do crack but have never picked up a needle… YET.

Alcoholism and addiction are diseases of YETS. You’re eligible too. While any of the above alone will eventually kill us, we still spend all of our efforts trying to justify that we are OK because we haven’t reached our YETS.

Just for today, take solace in knowing that there is no need to reach your YETS.

If you feel you have reached your YETS and are reading this, know there is one yet you have not reached YET… and you never have to provided you ask for help and are willing to work a spiritual program of recovery.

Why? Because you deserve it.

How did this tip resonate with you? Let us know your thoughts below. There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

With Love, Loosid :pray::heart:

Yep. I said all those "Yets"; till I was addicted to meth, stealing, lying to everyone even cops and doctors, laying in the street, living in the woods and an abandoned houses, selling myself and stolen things to pay for my habits; alcohol & meth; and praying for God just let me die. But God saved me instead and gave me a new life and sobriety and now I have 4 years and will never ever go back

I love this message. I'm not sure how many yets I have left Hope I don't have to find out I recently relapsed well I relapse a year and a half ago but I hit it from everybody for about a year and it was on kratom I never knew how terrible that stuff was until I tried to quit taking it The withdrawals are worse than anything I've ever been through and I've been through opiate withdrawal and heroin withdrawal and it's worse than both of those for me it was anyways but I'm glad that I'm back I'm glad that I found this app and that I have other people on here that have been through the same things I've been through and I hope I don't have to use up any more of my yets I pray for everybody else that they don't have to use any more of there yet and we just stay sober for today have a great day

Very true. That's why I always want to stay active in the recovery community. There are plenty of people who I can help and it helps me too. I don't go to meetings every day like I used too, but I know that keeping active is the best way to stay sober

I was very good at telling myself these Y.E.Ts before I had begun my recovery journey myself.? Although I have come to a realization that my Y.E.Ts are more of a positive now these days for that I am very grateful for my learnt experiences with Y.E.Ts good or bad it is still a very good lesson learnt while growing all together

As long as I don't pick up that first one, the yets are at bay.

I'm with David. As long as I don't pick up that first one, I keep my YETS at bay. Every day is a challenge, but a welcome challenge these days! Keep strong everyone:black_heart::muscle:t4:
