Loosid Sober Tip of the Day September 1

What does it mean to 'work' a program of recovery?

Many people get scared off by the word 'work' when we hear this phrase.

Working a program of recovery is very much like anything else in life.

If we are athletes, we know what it is like to go to physical therapy in order to recover from our injury.

When we want a certain career, we need to work to get a degree or a license that will allow us to enter that field, whatever it may be.

Whether it is a truck driver, a nurse, a doctor, an electrician, a lawyerā€¦ we need to work to be able to survive and flourish.

In recovery, the only difference is a big one because 'the work' is a matter of life and death.

So why are so many of us unwilling to save our own lives?

Since there are no 'credentials', 'licenses' or 'degrees' that are laid out, millions of us do not qualify ourselves as having a problem until it is too late.

Just for today, take solace in the fact that just by reading this, you are in the right place.

Once you know you are in the right place, give yourself the gift today to start your work.

In 12-step programs, the work is clearly defined and is typically gone through with your sponsor. There are many meetings you can go to at any given time.

If you wish to follow other spiritual programs of recovery, ask questions and begin your journey today.

If you have been in recovery a while and work a spiritual program of recovery, share below the work you do to remain (emotionally) sober one day at a time.

There are many people in the Loosid community who need to hear what you have to say.

With Love, Loosid :pray::heart:

This is brilliant advice. For many years I was not emotionally sober. Now that I am emotionally and physically sober Iā€™m aware of how much both play a part in being the best version of myself

My program is constantly growing. Itā€™s about learning, discipline and having an open mind. My old ideas of how I should live my life are now being reshaped by the spiritual program of Alcoholics Anonymous. Iā€™m also into learning other ideas of spirituality. Iā€™m reading different books on this topic such as ā€œliving by Graceā€ by Joel S. Goldsmith and ā€œAngel Messagesā€, by Maudy Fowler and Gail Hunt. There are countless books and tons of information out there to really dive deep into a bee way of life that works for you. Prayers and meditation are key factors in my sobriety program. Journaling each day with a gratitude list and a manifestation list. Helping others is the ultimate gift in sobriety. From volunteering to sharing your experience strength and hope at a meeting or online.
Thank you Loosid for helping me help others! I love you too!:heart::heart::heart::heart:

Recovery is only work if I donā€™t remind myself how bad it was when I was in My addiction. I almost died because of My lack of self care and My lack of spiritual being, Thank You God for caring about Me and allowing Me to learn to be the best that I can be, spiritually, mentally and physically!

I say it all the time. ā€˜You gotta be a beast about your sobrietyā€™

3 years sober! Still some days feel like a day 1 battle. I've no transportation, and live in the country. Loneliness and self-pity can be hard. For me I get up every morning, get my coffee and go outside. No social media for a bit. I talk... I talk to my maker. I talk to the nature that is all around me. I always give graditude for something everyday. Than I listen, and breathe and plan my day. Ok tell myself. .. up you go,(because now I can) let's get this day started! Being my own cheerleader or council is always good. Sharing with you all that have been there,or are in it now, is also a blessing and support to me

Good mornin...Today marks 1 year without my Juice...Having had a brief period if Sobriety(6+ years), my Program went away and I went away with it...Drinking turned full speed and there I was worse than when I left off the last time. The Relapse would capture me for 3 years until one last gasp at treatment, which lead me straight back to STEP 1..Apparently my FORGETTER works just fine still, that and / or ICOULD NOT COMPLETELY ADMIT to my Innermost self without reservation, that I was sick and would all WAYS be sick....tough proposition for most of us !!!! And it gets tricky. So, TODAY, By starting my day with " Spiritual " daily Devotional and/or a meeting with other ones whom seek a Spiritual solution, I stay WORKING a program. Work is just a word for, ( we have to, or it kills us. !)

Good Pitch ?... Getting better , not cured...
