Loosid Sober Tip of the Day September 12

Self-loathing is one of the biggest challenges so many of us share in common before entering a spiritual program of recovery.

Many of us bang our heads against the wall wondering why we can’t stop.

As we have discussed before, the stigma that we cannot stop because of a lack of willpower is 100% incorrect.

We cannot WILL away alcoholism or addiction any more than we can will away diabetes, cancer or any other disease.

The truth is, we can only stop and stay stopped through working a spiritual program of recovery.

One of the biggest parts is forgiving ourselves… and loving ourselves.

When we recognize it is a disease, it is only then that we realize that it is not our fault.

Thankfully, we have a disease that is 100% treatable, provided that we work a daily spiritual program.

Until we understand this, we will continue to think there is something wrong with us.

Just for today, take solace in the fact that there is nothing wrong with you.

Know that you are not alone and there are millions of people who can show you precisely what they do each day and every day to live a beautiful sober life.

You are not alone.

Heavy on the daily spiritual program.

That we have a disease and we can only arrest it. One day at a time we use the tools that we learn in recovery and attend a meeting if we have the desires to use. We share our hurts habits and hangups with others that share the same disease and they will love us until we learn to love ourselves and we get a sponsor and work the steps and then we do service work and give hope to the newcomers that are still suffering addicts. Because to keep our sobriety we give away the things that help us stay clean. And if we don’t stay plugged in then we become complacent and think we have it under control and that’s when we let our emotions take over and fall. Quote the serenity prayer when you feel tempted and call your sponsor.

I’ve always been told how bad I was.. I never had a close family and my mother never was there for me.. I always tried to earn her love.. but I took care of her while she went thru 2 bouts of lung cancer.. until she passed away 3 years ago.. in my addiction and alcoholism I did a lot of things I’m not proud of.. but I’ve turned my life over to God.. He has helped me to realize that I’m not a bad person and try to be the best I can be.. better than I was y’day.. I live by the serenity prayer.. I have had to accept the things and and people I can’t change..!!

Love your thoughts...thanks!
