Loosid Sober Tip of the Day September 7

Identify, don’t compare.

When we come into a spiritual program of recovery, many of us will find that we compare our stories with others.

We may feel we have not reached the desperate levels others have or, alternatively, we may look at our stories and think that we have had a much rougher time.

It is not our job to take the inventory of others.

It is very important never to compare stories, but rather identify with the feelings.

Look for the similarities, not the differences.

When we focus on similarities, we will invariably find them.

I had to learn this lesson and break it down to basics.
Do I drink too much
Do I want to stop my cycle of abuse
Do I want to get better?
Nobody else's pattern will be like mine and that is why it's so personal.
Keep the focus on my sobriety and nobody else's because at the end of the day my sobriety is the only one I can control.
Thanks Loosid!!

The well atleast I don't, it could be worse and I'm not as a bad as that person type of thinking that I got comfortable using to justify why I continued to use certain substances had to go. I had to be straight up with myself and put myself first. Thank you for this reminder.
