When you can travel solo, dine out solo, and laugh with the bartender when ordering manzanita instead of a margarita… that’s sober adulting.
Sounds like a great evening!
I love manzanitas
I've somehow never heard of this "manzanita"...lemon in water is about as crazy as I get. Looks good though.
Well done, that is definitely super.
My sober bar drink is ginger beer (like root beer, alcohol free) with lime. It never lets me down when I'm out
This looks so yummy!
If you go often enough to a hairstylist you will get a haircut.... drinking fake liquor at a bar means you are heading for trouble. Please don't resent me and try to prove me wrong....it doesn't work
You’re ridiculous. It’s an apple soda that kids drink in Mexico dude.
Chad. You’re new name is Chad.
You are advocating drinking in a bar. Many newer alcoholic addicts don't need your help
Ya see, most of the world have bars/restaurants. I was in Mexico where the restaurant has a bar. I’m not advocating anything. Im advocating being an independent, confident, sober woman. Don’t comment if you don’t like it.
Look I really don't care what you are thinking. I'm too old and too tired to be distracted by your name calling and anger. Go your way I'll go mine. Jeepers
Is everyone on this thread reading this? Am in the Twilight Zone? Get out and travel more, Chad
Exactly, thank you. And it’s not anger. It’s shock. Tranquilo. (Look that up too, don’t report me for using Spanish!)
I did not like this flagging. Don’t know why it’s showing that I clicked on the heart. I loved your post! If I were triggered by it, that would be ridiculous.
Since you like the Big Book so much, read the part where it talks about going anywhere even if alcohol is served there. Or the part about having it in our home. You're a poor example of so called long term sobriety. Maybe try acting as if you're in recovery? Just a thought. Creepers
To clarify to all, manzanita is an apple soda that children drink. That’s why it was so funny that I ordered it. Yes, from a bartender. Because that’s how the world works- bartenders work in restaurants and serve sodas as much as booze. Something so innocent and something I’m proud of (like remaining sober on vacation) was twisted into me being manipulative to newly sober people. Thanks CHAD for the benefit of the doubt
By God's Grace and AA I have worked the steps with a sponsor. Your attacking me as a person points at you not me.
What I'm saying is your suggestion though right for some is very dangerous for other people.
Some people will remain sober following your direction.
Some won't.
I'm saying I am unwilling to let your suggestion go by silently.
If anyone reading this thread wants to drink non alcoholic beverages at a bar. Go do so.
But if you are newly sober or dry sober and haven't actually read through the steps and actually worked through them with a sponsor who has actually worked the steps please do not think hanging in a bar is a free and easy decision.
Your very life, sanity, livelihood and Sobriety may depend on it.
I apologize for my original reaction way at the beginning of this rather tedious thread.
I just hope a few of you really work the steps and get to the point where you listen to "into action with the ears of those who have experienced the miracle of the twelve steps."
