Im trying to find someone to work the steps with me again. I'm not trying to get heavily involved in the AA in my area but it's need to do this. Is there anyone out there who'd want to work with me from a distance

Do you just not like the people in your area?
If you have a big book, page 59 explicitly states that half measures will avail us nothing. Not sure what you would be trying to accomplish.
Do you want what we have and are you willing to go to any length to get it? If so, life does get better.
Hey Steve! I love AA. I go to meetings, I have a sponsor, and I’m working the steps. It’s been such a blessing for me. I also like to recommend it to others. However, recovery has grown and expanded quite a bit over the past 10 plus years. There are people getting sober with other programs. Most are spiritual programs based on a mental transformation, and suggest a daily regimen. Many also have meetings. I’m not familiar with all of them, but I know a few people with several years of sobriety that love them as much as I love AA. That being said, I’m glad there are options for those that don’t feel entirely comfortable with AA for whatever reason. Felicia has over 3 years of sobriety. She’s doing something right. We should applaud and support her sobriety. I consider myself blessed that AA is a great fit for me. Obviously you do as well. I get your reply, and don’t necessarily disagree. I just think we should open our minds to other paths of sobriety. While AA works if you work it, it’s 2022 and AA is not the only path to sobriety anymore. Peace and sobriety to all

I seem to post this daily now. Directly from the preamble “AA is a fellowship…”. From how it works “suggested program of recovery”.
I go for the fellowship and support. I work my own program and have been sober 2.5 years.

The reason for my question was to see if it was personality problem with someone in your AA area, a concern for your anonymity, a problem with AA in general..it’s not clear from your post. I would think that if it’s the first two you should be able to navigate. If it’s the last one err, idk. I don’t know how you would work the steps and find a sponsor, if you don’t want anything to do with the program. I just don’t know, honestly, how that would work. I did Celebrate Recovery for a couple of months and they use the steps (apparently). I didn’t see it. It was a super watered down recovery program and got me drunk. lol I hope you find what you’re looking for.

Hey Felicia, if you just need someone to check in with daily or talk to that would understand whatever your going through I would be glad to help. I’m not a big meeting person myself, sometimes just a sober friend to empathize with does the trick

Going to meeting will help you.please get over the meeting issues .go to different meetings in your town.we need people. we have to fight to get and stay sober. Take a stand for your self. Fight for what you want.Aa .org

For me, isolation was one of my biggest enemies. Alcoholism is a disease of isolation, and when I found this app I was able to listen to others share their stories and really get vulnerable and connect, connecting the opposite of isolation. This app has some tremendous audio stories that really opened my mind and helped seek connection. The open discussions like this help connect with others that have or are going through the same issues as you. AA and the 12 step program then came into my life, I was fortunate enough to find a home group that I absolutely cherish and connect with everyday. Please realize if you are working the 12 steps you need to be heavily involved in AA because surrender is some thing we have to do every single day. There are over 60,000 AA groups in the US alone many of which are online, don't let the experience of one group put a bad taste in your mouth.
