Making progress, or am I?

I’ve been abusing pills for the last 6 months daily, anywhere from 10-20 each day but recently I have wanted to take the steps necessary to be sober so therefore I’ve been cutting back and within the last two weeks I’ve gone from like I said 10-20 to 2 in 24hrs. Is this something worth celebrating in my head? Or do I need to not worry about those little things and focus on the big?

Absolutely something to celebrate! We all recover at our own pace and in our own way. No matter how small of steps your taking the fact is your actually taking steps. One of the great sayings is progress not perfection. I’m here if you ever want to chat keep it up and get as much support as you can!

It is absolutely something to be proud of. Depending on the length of time and the amount of use, it is actually safer to taper off of opiods. I believe severe alcoholism is treated the same way. You're definitely making progress.

We didn't become addicted in one day so remember - Easy does it.

Taking steps towards your goal is, in itself, a success. You're allowed to feel good about the progress you've made. But if your goal is to get off pills entirely, don't take your foot off the gas, keep your eye on the prize. Take the time you need and be honest with yourself and your progress. Don't rest on your laurels.
