Man, barely got through by the skin of my teeth tonight, hit me like a ton of bricks for some reason. Went for a walk and shoving cheerios in my face. What I think I was lacking: a meeting and a good dinner. Geez…

That’s awesome! I know for the first few week I needed to call my sponsor every day. Even if I didn’t have anything to say, I needed that reassurance that I was okay. I also did a meeting a day for the first 30. Good to hear you are hitting the pillow sober! Congrats

Hahaha Cheerios? Who the heII still eats Cheerios? What are you, 80? Hehe

Yes definitely eat a good dinner and get to a meeting.

Ha, born in the early 80’s! Cheerios are ingrained in our DNA I do believe… thanks for the chuckle and support

You have no idea how true the statement of Cheerios being in our DNA is ......haha

And you're welcome. Hang in there.

Whatever it takes! Well done. Cheerios are healthier than ice cream, my go-to. Anything is better than alcohol. Good job. Have a great sober weekend

Easy does it…on yourself. One day at a time. I still struggle with balancing every and I’ve been sober eight years. I have to stick to the healthy habits, my routines, slow down, and not get sucked into my other addictions…usually because I fear being alone!

"Cheerios are healthier than ice cream" is really subjective, but I see your point.

Nancy, great advice, thank you, I’m trying to be mindful, it’s so early on I just don’t know when it’s going to hit! Also trying to tell my close friends my intentions on staying sober so I don’t have any loopholes to fall into when we are hanging out. One day/moment at a time, easy does it. Have a great weekend!!!

Tim I have to say, there are 2 things you’ve said in various comments that I go back to time and time again:

  1. Play the tape til the end
  2. Don’t be anywhere you don’t need to be.
Those have saved me in my weaker moments. Many many thanks

I cherish my first year daily gratitude lists notebook for days like this: 1. I'm breathing 2. I have food stamps so i can eat ...etc...I remember just making a ritual out of eating ice cream and buying fancy bottled sodas just to get through a day. Thanks for being vulnerable about negative days! You got this, it always feels different the next day just make it to your pillow without a drink  you can deal with the sugar addiction in later years of sobriety. Just saying. The sugar part of recovery is very real.

Yeah I found myself finishing off bottles of chocolate syrup

Take meetings I hear what I need to hear and when I work with this closet I get the work done that gives me staying power

Still might end up shoving chocolate chips in my face though or Oreo cookie breakfast cereal
