Marriage

Can someone relate or explain why when you get sober and are in recovery it’s not a good idea to start a relationship…. But not hood addressing recovery and already being married?

For me I believe that it would not be a good idea to start a new relationship. If you are with someone who loves you and is secure enough to give you the time to work on your recovery then it’s a blessing to have someone in your corner

The advice I got was not to make any big decisions regarding my marriage the first year. I’m glad my wife and I agreed to give “it”and us the time to work thru it. The ups and downs were pretty rough, and I think we would’ve went our separate ways had we not been committed to giving it a year. On a side note, my wife is not an alcoholic or physically a danger to me (although she rightfully so wanted to kill me lol). If your spouse is endangering your recovery or you in any way, that’s another story
