Can anyone remember the feeling of keeping that secret…lying about going to meetings and sneaking shots …. I’ve been making it work the last couple days but I know it’s us gonna hit the fans:…help !!!
Secrets get make us use. Guilt makes you tilt. Always.
Thank you
It only lasted for so long before the truth caught up and caused a lot more guilt and shame
Sounds like a lot of fear and shame. Even after a few months of sobriety, I still have moments when those feelings hit me. It’s like I know something is going to go wrong. I’ve been walking around with these guilt and shame feelings for so long, that even when I’m doing the right things,I have this feeling in my gut that I’m just going to F things up again like I always do. The fear that my big secrets is going to be found out. That everyone is going to know what a piece of sh!t i really am. I’ve repeated the same mistakes so many times before. What’s going to make it different this time? The good news is that these feelings do slowly go away if you continue to do the right thing ODAAT for a few months. The feelings still pop up, but they are not as intense, I recognize them much faster, and they pass much more quickly. The key is to stay sober. In order for me to stay sober, I had to go to AA meetings, get a sponsor, start working the steps etc. I also go see a therapist 2 x a week. I know it sounds like a lot, but it works. I’m happier now than I’ve been in many many years. My relationship with my wife is better than it’s been in many years. The kids are learning to trust me again as well. You can do this too Katie. Others on this app have done the same. Some use other programs to get and stay sober. I suggest you find one so that you too can begin to feel better and enjoy life once again:pray:
Thank you!
