Been through this so many times. Had my 1st year recently.. after 6 years of battling getting clean then after 4-8 months sober.. a relapse.
This time I Really thought it was harm reduction… drinking sometimes instead of the “hard” stuff..& in the past that worked. I never liked to drink. realized very late in life that it takes a lot of social fear away. Definitely feel stuck. A ‘dry’ drinking drunk, with Sublocade, valuim, and Extreme isolation outside of work..
My sobriety times were quite isolating..as well. Using is the temp of the iceberg of course. but I was myself, I wasn’t lying to people I love, and being sober stuck is not the same as using stuck.

Morgan, my congrats to you for staying at it and continuing to try to get and stay clean. It’s a long and winding Road. When we talk about harm reduction, typically Valium and extreme isolation are not considered great options. If you have any questions or need any resources please please please feel free to reach out.
Definitely agree with the poster above because first of all, harm reduction is using as safely as possible with the least amount of negative consequences possible. Alcohol is literally the most dangerous drug in existence & yes, booze IS a drug. If you would like to brainstorm about ways to practice harm reduction as well as you can feel free to message me or whatever. I’m a social worker & a member of my state harm reduction community board & I’m in the process of getting certified as a peer support specialist.
