Miserable today. 25 days sober. My husband left about 27 days ago and he’s coming to pick up my kids today for the holiday and they won’t be home till Friday. It’s my first holiday sober (unless you count halloween which was my first day sober) and the first time I have ever not been with my kids on a holiday. (They are 9 and 12) cannot stop crying and feeling terrible and lonely and just all around awful. I am not a “god person” (yet) but I am going to have to pray really hard to be in the next two days to keep my head above water. All prayers are being accepted. Thank you for letting me get that out.

Sorry for what you have to experience. Our past takes time to heal with others. Longer you stay the course the easier it’ll get. Guaranteed

Hello Allyn, I can relate my first holiday alone was Thanksgiving. My daughters were a bit older but still tough. I will be around this holiday if you want to talk. Message me anytime. My prayers will be with you.

Hey Allyn, my kids are with their mom every Christmas and for their birthdays every year. And it sucks. But it’s good for them, and I don’t need a special occasion to celebrate how much I love them. And honestly, since I got sober, now they look forward to their time with me infinitely more than they used to.

Sorry to hear this. Stay with it and be patient. Living amends will come. They require us to get “street cred” (sober time). No one believes that we are serious, until we demonstrate it. That takes time. One day at a time adds up. 25 is a really good start. You should be proud of yourself. Keep it up.:slightly_smiling_face:

Find yourself some sober friends to hang with and talk to. Hopefully you have friends or family to hang with. Not a good time to be alone. Happy Thanksgiving

Getting it out is very key. This will not be easy. When we choose to not self medicate is when we will begin to feel pain. The more we accept ourselves and face each haunt, and acknowledge the hurt we caused others and ourselves, the more we are able to forgive ourselves. We must not try to do this alone. Continuing to open up is key. Don't worry we all can relate on many levels. I can clearly remember being absent from feeling anything, which kept me sick. How can i could I feel anything until I was willing to face myself and only myself. Nevermind getting sober to get back anything until we free ourselves from the prison of holding onto regret. Ask yourself,"am I ready to be free and genuinely happy," I mean happy for yourself. Be courageous for yourself. Until then, we will continue to get more of the same. Are you ready to quit hurting yourself and others. Then get ready to feel pain and and embrace it because you and everyone who suffer is one step from experiencing true happiness or do it what I did and continue to think I will do this on my own until until I was staring death in the eyes without anywhere to turn. We are here to share our experience, strength and help. Now the choice lies in your hands to accept only for yourself to live free.

Keep your head up! It gets easier. You may fall, get back up....trip catch your balance. Sobriety is fragile but if you care for it, you can keep it from shattering your life.

This is painful for sure. I'm sorry.

You can keep your head above water. Remember why you got sober. Your kids would also rather you be sober today. That's a gift for them, too. They'll come home to a sober mom instead of q hangover mom; and you can celebrate tomorrow.

Hang in there.
