When put in a position of neutrality, we can sit in any setting and happily enjoy a delicious mocktail.

I guess I'm going to sound like the negative one here. LOL
I just have a lot of experience with trying things that at the time seemed harmless. I'm not really a big fan of mocktails because they too closely resemble the real thing.
I'm quite content with a bottle of water or a bottle that says 7 Up or ginger ale.
I've known a few people, myself included that have relapsed because after a while they got tired of drinking mocktails and their heads under the right circumstances asked "what possibly could be wrong with having just one?"
And people who do this never believe that it could possibly happen to them. They are always the exception to the rule. Trust me, I've seen it.
Remember, we deal with alcohol. Cunning, baffling and Powerful.
The OP has a lot of time so he apparently has it figured out but I definitely don't recommend this for people in early sobriety.

See I agree I was afraid of trying stuff like this I’m only about to be 3weeks in n still don’t feel hundred percent ready but to each it’s own they can be more stronger then me
Hi Dave. In early sobriety I agree with you. That being said, I have found the Big Book talking about us being put in a position of neutrality one of the most important promises.
If I were to have to stay away from social settings over the last decade that I have been sober I would have missed out on life.
To me a 7 up is not what I want. Restaurants taking the time to craft mocktails have been such an incredible help.

Hi @nikki144147 - @dave91012 is right. When you get through the steps there is a promise to be put in a position of neutrality but this all takes time so i agree with Dave. It’s very important you work the program first. Congratulations on your sobriety!
