I’m a punk rocker from back in the day. Love hard edge stuff. 90’s alt is my jam now. Love music with a message. First album, Jesus Christ Superstar. Second, Jimi Hendrix Are You Experienced. Not a time warper. Love to move on with music. Imagine Dragons got some cool tunes. Trent Reznor my main man tho. Miss dancing. 80’s & 90’s had stuff you could dance too alone. Was a cool style back then. None of this bump and grind chit. Thanks for the post.

Yes Dave. In my top three bands is Skillet. Check them out. I’m actually a metal head that likes to turn it down with Christian music.

Sandy, I'm not a scholar on God or this Metal "music." I'm age 63 and what I I've always listened to has always been far off the beaten path. Even when I was in my early twenties, if I went into a rock Club and the music was too loud I didn't hang around because for me it was just a big turn-off.
In my opinion, the problem with what is labeled as "Christian" heavy metal music is sometimes one of association. In the hands of the unsaved world, heavy metal almost always embraces death, pain, suicide, drugs and anger (metal is very rarely “happy music”). Believers have to be careful not to get sucked into the culture of nihilism,
Nihilism
(the rejection of all religious and moral principles, in the belief that life is meaningless.)
and antisocialism that metal usually promotes.
While it is true that pain and death are a part of life, the key to overcoming those things is not anger or suicide or revenge. The answer is the gospel of Jesus Christ (Romans 1:16). There is nothing in the Bible that praises or glorifies death in the least, so neither should our music. Would you agree?
My thinking is that lyrics which violate biblical guidelines or celebrate or exalt sinful behavior are not appropriate for Christians.
When people are empty inside they will have open ears to the Gospel.
Just my views. That and a dollar bill will get you a cup of coffee.
I hear you! I'm not a scholar either...however I am a PK. Even tho my dad was very twisted we did grow up in a Baptist church and learned lot.. There is every genre in Christian music. I rarely listen to secular music anymore... lyrically Christian metal is so good. Way back in the 80's my favorite band was Stryper. Isaiah 53 was always printed on the stage. You'd probably be shocked if you ever heard any Christian rock music. I'm only 12 yrs younger lol!
