Are you working a program of recovery? Anger is always fears body guard. A recovery program will teach you how to healthily deal with fear and things you can’t control.

Some might be fears but not all of it … I just get set off quick .. for example I lost my sh:t on a coworker because he print out run sheets … I know it sounds stupid but 3-4 times a week I have to do something he doesn’t do !! The only thing that helps me right now is the gym … I do 3 meetings a week and I just started a step writing group and I do have a sponsor … so I hope that step writing will help … it’s so bad that I’m snapping on close friends and family…

It should help, congratulations on doing the work, less than 5 percent of people who get sober do the work needed for a healthy happy life :+1: welcome to the 5 percent

Thank you my sober brother.. I’ve been Blessed with a great network.. I’m probably gonna start an anger management program too ..

You bet, it was one of my struggles also, the steps help. I also did Aca to deal with childhood trauma and after doing that work it’s very manageable. I feel for you and believe that you’ll find relief. Keep moving forward

More meetings for your anger... it took me many years of just going to meetings three in a week wasn't enough three in a day three in the morning I've been there and done that many many times I never regret going to a meeting I always regret going off on people

Your the only one who can control you. When you feel that anger coming on try to take a step back. Remove yourself from the angering environment and doing some breathing exercises. Go for a quick walk do some jumping jacks. Scream at the top of your lungs in the car alone… this one rlly helps me lol just raging out alone and getting out my system.
I get terrible road rage but not anymore I’ve trained my brain by telling myself a mantra :om: you’ll get there when you get there it’s not worth it to blow up over traffic. You will get to your destination when you do.
Also the gym is a great way to let out anger and extra energy. Make yourself so tired you don’t even have the energy to get mad.
I totally relate and understand how hard it is to calm down too but over time trying to catch yourself before a blow up can be beneficial.

One of the most helpful things I’ve learned in managing anger was about what happens in the brain when that fight mode gets triggered. Biological alarms are going off and telling yourself to calm down just doesn’t cut it. But a proven way to override that anger when it sets off is breathing. As stupid as it sounds. Just pay attention next time you get angry, before you even go off you’ll notice your heart starts to race, your body temp rises, thoughts start racing etc. Taking slow, deep, and controlled breaths help override the physiological responses happening in the body and so gives you more agency over your anger. It helped me. Hope it helps you..

When something gets you pissed, step back and analyze, can I fix this? Obviously anger adds salt to the wound, so why add it to the equation? I choose my mood now. If someone else wants to cause drama, they can have it for themselves. I only want to be happy now.

In other words being angry seems to be a waste of time.

Wow that description was on point .. Actually it makes perfect sense .. thank you :pray:t4:

My best friend tells me the same thing ..

It works for me. Also I try my hardest not to let others moods rub off on me, if they are in a bad mood let them b if you can't help. Careful around those of "misery loves company"
