My dogs, here and in heaven

My almost 11 year old dog has seen me through so much. Both drunk and sober. He has been a constant in my life. One that has honestly kept me alive many times over. Given me a reason to keep on when I couldn’t do it for myself. He gets me! This morning we both slept in!! Then he just kept on sleeping and I became concerned. But all is well. We went out in the rain for a long walk. We opened our eyes, minds, lungs, hearts, and warmed up our bodies and enjoyed the smells. I talked to God and stretched out my arms as we walked through the woods. My dog loves me and sees my soul through all the layers and sometimes darkness. He accepts me and looks to me and most importantly reminds me that I have a purpose. I also love that dog spelled backwards is God! I am forever grateful for my soul companion with four legs who was rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico. I have had one other boy dog of my own before and he did the same thing in different ways. Both dogs the most special beings ever. Both dogs literally saved my life everyday and on the more serious days when I almost took my own life. Grateful to be sober, grateful to be alive, grateful for my dog.
