My growth is a continuous process. Sobriety doesn’t mean you

My growth is a continuous process. Sobriety doesn’t mean you are just sober from alcohol and drugs. It means a lot of hard work that starts within yourself. I had to detox from old habits, old patterns, anger, fear, resentment, sadness. I’m having to relearn everything from coping skills to loving myself and learning how to deal with my emotions, the list goes on. Instead of trying to numb them out or escape from them. This is one of my biggest struggles. Emotions are feelings and learning to sit with them and write about them, talk about them, and to feel them and not to act out on them is one of the toughest things. No one said life or being sober was easy but with the grace of God and family, friends and all the love and support from my recovering family. I know I have a long road ahead of me and it’s just the beginning but I’m excited more then ever to live and learn and most importantly try to become the best version of myself.

Well said, well said. Sobriety is the full spectrum mental, physical, letting go of self centered. I always thought alcohol was problem. Finally got great counseling. Gotta face your mental demons, physical demons, and trace it back. Stopping alchohol and drugs is a temporary dangerous bandaid untill you can faceted root cause. Opinion only.
