I would normally drinking right now. I think it’s day five. I feel confused and kinda lost. All I want to do is lie down and sleep, but I’ve had the worst insomnia for the past few days. Not even melatonin is working. Argh.
Hang in there. That happened to me every time I stopped, too. Might take another couple days but you’ll feel normal and get some sleep soon!
The sleep....I hear that...all I want to do is "sit around" and or sleep. No ambition to do anything or be with anyone even after 500 plus days of sobriety and bunch if mental meds...

I used zzquil for awhile then low dose of anti depressant .....got me back to a normal sleep pattern then I weened off of everything. Also I increased my activity....so I did not just lay around...it's hard Goodluck. You can do it!
As far as easily available try CBD gummies and chamomile if you can....then supplement wise , neuroscientists suggest GABA agonist like Apigenin, then L-threanine, mg threonate....one of those is a GABA agonist , one helps your frontal lobe shut down and one keeps you asleep. I have to get them online but mg threonate usually at your local stores. Rx wise , Seraquel and hydroxyzine have worked best for me. Clonidine, Clonazepam, trazadone also work for many. I'm life long insomniac and insomnia researcher if that isn't evident. Insomnia is worst the week after quitting booze .
My best combo thus far is 100mg Seraquel , 50 mg hydroxyzine, Apigenin supplement. I'm 180 lbs and it knocks me out and keeps me out and don't wake up groggy.
Good luck.
You have to be strong. You are just going to feel pretty awful for a while . Get into a detox and have them manage your initial recovery. Then get into a program that monitors you and holds you accountable. Nothing else will work. I know that’s scary but your life is at risk. You have to finally decide who you are.
This is all normal, Bosco. If you drink all the time, your chemistry is out of whack right now. It's going to take some time to balance out.
I would talk to a nutritionist and also get some fitness into your life. I also hope that you have some kind of a 12-step program incorporated into your recovery.
Drinking was but a symptom of our problem. We have to get down to causes and conditions.
It's okay. Just your buddy resetting. Make sure to do what you need to prep body for sleep. Get sun in your eyes
(not directly but walk outside without sunglasses) get vitamin d from sun also good for sleep as it creates natural melatonin get exercise cardio and or weights and in no time at all you will be back to standard sleep. Also YouTube has good tips. Search for Whiskey Breathing and Tapping ex for sleep.
Get a mindfulness meditation app and practice
Hang in there! The adjustment can be rough, but worth it if you put in the time. Keep busy, lean on your community, go to meetings if it's your thing. Sending you all my positive vibes!!!
There's some good advice on here. I also ended up needed an antidepressant to help even out my mood in the six months after quitting. If you are really struggling with the mood and also changes, you could talk to your doctor about that option, too.
