My Nephew just went into a Sacramento 50150 i don’t know about that can someone help me

Hi Jo, I live in Sacramento, but am not currently there, I will be back Sunday. Usually 5150’s are on hold for 72 hours for observation. What can I do to support you right now?

Is the 72 hours a minimum and they decide how long to keep him ? Is it a hospital?

I was on a 72 hour hold. They didn’t count the weekend, so it was days longer than that. Once you’re in, you are evaluated for fitness, before they will let you leave. You have to meet certain physical and psychological criteria. They make sure you are safe to return to society. Mine was in a county behavioral health facility. I don’t know if that helps.

my nephew was not released unfortunately he is still in the facility
