My Sobriety Journey

I’m a combat veteran in recovery. For a long time, I used alcohol and substances to cope with trauma, loss, and the weight of experiences I didn’t know how to process. What started as numbing turned into dependency, and it slowly took more than it ever gave back.

Today, I choose sobriety with intention. I value clarity, accountability, and emotional presence, especially as a father and as a man rebuilding his life with discipline and purpose. I’m here to stay grounded, learn from others, and contribute to a community that understands what recovery truly costs and why it’s worth protecting.

One day at a time.

I absolutely love that.. “what sobriety costs”. I came into this in ‘18 thinking it was just take the pills and be happy. What I learned was that stagnation hurts. Progress hurts. And I had to draw a line in the sand

Your story is the same as my brother's. He lost his battle in 2020 to addiction and that's when mine spiraled out of control. Thank you for serving our country and I'm proud of you for taking control of your life back!

I salute you sir. I serve but never in more time so I never walked in your shoes but over the years I have tried to empathize. God bless you and I miss talking to you. Now we're getting ready for this big storm in South Carolina and everywhere and then we get through it unscathed love always your friend Lauren
