Hey Shawn. Welcome. It is scary, but it is also exciting and liberating. Don’t sell yourself short. You can do this, you decided to do this. I can’t BELIEVE I did it and wish I could tell the person who was trying to quit a year ago to jump in quicker and not to give up. I thought it was impossible. It’s hard but not impossible. I recommend joining this naked mind alcohol experiment where you’ll find daily videos, a community, and lots of tips and suggestions. It saved me along with reading, listening, learning and making goals and routines.

You are so courageous in sharing what you just did. I’m 17 months sober but don’t think I’ve ever said “I’m very scared and lonely” out loud even though I feel that way sometimes. You’re facing the beast that some can’t even acknowledge is standing right there. You’ve inspired me to be more honest about where I’m at today because that’s the only hope of figuring out how to get where I want to be. Thank you for that and I hope you find inspiration, strength, and support here and wherever you go on your journey forward.

11 months sober for me, tomorrow Shawn. The people of AA helped me more than anything. Hangouts after meetings, having people to talk to, meetings etc made all the difference for me. I over thought a lot of the programming in AA (certain meetings) but once I let go of that and just took it for what it was, things got infinitely better. Give it a try if you haven't. A real try.more than just a couple meetings.

Welcome …. You’re absolutely right , it is scary and lonely at first but use that fear to keep you headed in the right direction…. As you keep putting yourself out there you meet likeminded people and you grow a network and the loneliness fades …. It’s not easy and it doesn’t happen right away but the Blessings do come when you put in the work !!!!
