Needs some help or thoughts. Just reconnected with my family after running away/from my problems for the past 12 years. Sat down and opened up, poured my sole out and I feel decent okay. My question is how did or would you deal with their reactions. Some were stand offish, felt like I was being treated like I child by a couple. I know they get there reaction and their hurt by what I did but man it sucks in way. Let me know your thoughts pls & ty p.s happy new year

It takes time for people to trust us and want us back in their lives sometimes. Just like we learn how to live better lives and put up boundaries when needed, they also can do this. It took several years for some of my family to trust that I was going to stay sober and present. Give them time.

New to the app so I’m just seeing this now. I still need to confront friends and family. They don’t believe I’ll stay sober. I’ve lost a lot of friends and family doubts my sobriety. Hopefully one day I’ll have the strength to do what you did. That takes guts. You should be proud of yourself and your family should respect you more because of it.
