I’m beginning my sober journey and looking at all the different communities. What are some alternatives to AA?
I prefer na. Less structured and more raw. And not all religiousy. Lots of avenues to recovery. Hope you find one that works.
Smart Recovery, Dharma Recovery, Recovery International (12-step for anxiety and fear) and most importantly, IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program).
A really good one will help you with both your addiction AND the emotional, psychological, and other behavioral issues most of us are using AT.
K. I often agree. Many AA meetings I have attended have had a personality that seems to believe that what the members have to share is more important than the knowledge of the program.
My father used to say, "Be the pipe, not the source." When I find a meeting-or a church- where the body believes it is the source, I move on.
Thank you!!
