Nice to meet you! I’m in NJ
You as well! I stayed in Cherry Hill/Laurel Township for a summer for work a couple years ago
Make sober friends..go to same meetings so you can start meeting them. It helps so much to have sober support
The good news is that you never have to drink again. I highly recommend that you get to 90 meetings in 90 days.
The best place to find a sponsor is at a Big Book or 12 and 12 discussion meeting.
People who go to these types of meetings have a real
understanding of how the program/solution works.
And everything does get better. Life doesn't necessarily get easier, but we get better at handling life one day at a time without picking up a drink.
You're probably going to get some cravings in the beginning, but don't believe the big lie that tells you that this time, everything will be okay because it never turns out well.
When you get some cravings, you can start by taking in some sweets. They seem to help.
Sometime in 2011 I had almost 9 years and then I relapsed. It was a big mistake that cost me 3 years of absolute oblivion. I'm coming up on 9 years all over again. The program does work if you do what is suggested.
I was the same way for a long time. Started working out and running every day and that helped. Became my new addiction. For me exercise was the best thing when becoming sober and it just helps mentally. Had friends and family that have been there to support along the way. Might have to stay away from some people if drinking is something that is always involved. If they are real friends they will support you as well. I'm over 2 years sober now and I still have a tough time going out sometimes but it helps when your around the right people.
That’s about an hour from me. I’m at the shore.
