New here!

Hi, I’m Ash. Looking to make sober friends! This is not my first round in recovery but definitely feel more ready than I ever have been after truly hitting my bottom. I currently have 18 days and am just really trying to stay connected with others who understand this journey and new way of life. Add me!

Welcome to Loosid Ash! We are glad you’re here. Congratulations on 18 days! I can remember my first 18 days. What disaster I was. :joy:
This isn’t my first round of recovery either. This time definitely seemed different for me and thus far has been a blessing.
What are you doing differently this time?
For me I’m going to AA, reading spiritual books, practicing the 12 steps, meditation, prayer, helping others, volunteering, hiking, exercise, making new friends, and repairing the damaged relationship And the harm I’ve caused…
Still go through struggles at times.
I go to church and try to my best to find peace with God.

Thank you!! So what I’m doing differently is basically exactly everything you said also. Going to AA meetings, really being dedicated to working my 12 step program, regular communication with my sponsor, prayer, meditation, exercise, I also think I say the serenity prayer about 12x a day lol. I go to church also! I also made the choice to make a new Instagram account as to cut off connections with a lot of people from my “old” life. That has been really helpful too, just to be seeing content from people I value and truly have in my life. I love me some recovery meme pages too :joy:. Thank you for the reply!

Welcome Ash! Sounds like you’re working a beautiful program of recovery! I too had to start over with IG. I recently got a Facebook page as I joined YPAA which is young people of Alcoholics Anonymous. There’s a ton of fun stuff we do in AA. I’m currently a member at large for Socypaa which is for the county I live in… Sonoma county young people of Alcoholics Anonymous. So far it’s been fun…
Is there any YPAA in your area?

I keep in touch with my sponsor as well, and his sponsor too. We do a 12x12 book study on Monday nights. That’s been really helpful.

Ash we just don’t drink one day at a time no matter what. Read the big book, go to meetings and get a sponsor. It was suggested to me to do 90 meetings in 90 days. That really helped. A sober life is a life worth living for me.

Glad to meet you. Welcome

What does everyone think
Of IOP program? Intensive outpatient. I just signed up but it’s on line and starts next week. I really wanted sooner as I’m right on the edge

It felt like adult babysitting at first. But if you really open up yourself and trust the process it’s a great program.

Welcome! It took me several tries to get to where I’m at now and I couldn’t have imagined I’d have the life I do now when I was in early recovery. Keep it up and stay connected!
