New to all this. Didnt really get much help from my Dr. on meds to helpnwith cravings. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can handle this?
If it’s alcohol - take it slow. Chocolate / sugar can help replace the sugar from the alcohol. Exercise. Sleep.
It’s hard. But you can do this.
I struggled with this so bad that's one of the main reasons it was so hard for me to quit because I procrastinated I just kept coming excuses not to do it not saying that you are but I did. I literally had to make sure that I had food accessible to me at all times and I'm talking about anything that I craved because I went so long without eating all the sudden food tasted so good. I also had to make myself take a shower once a day no matter what. Get up and make my bed do at least two chores a day. I had to go outside and literally walk around my apartment once or twice a day sometimes. It's hard when you are getting clean and sober because when you're first knew it you don't have friends that are clean and sober that you can call up and say hey let's go do something. I would definitely suggest meetings of your liking you can look them up on Google they have some on zoom. There you could possibly if you'd like already find a sponsor. Someone you could call anytime you're having a craving to help you get over that urge. I still have triggers that come out of nowhere and next thing you know I want something to numb. Get you a pen and a piece of paper every time you want to urge try to figure out what's triggering it. Good luck if I can do it I know you can
I'm taking Naltrexone
it's been a game changer!
Thanks for responding to her question!!!!
Meetings and sponsors. I sponsor and started meeting 2 weeks into my recovery. The connection I guava with my sponsee is a love and guiding one. I love the opportunity to watch people grow in there recovery. With each step they do they become a better person. Sponsor are the to guide you and to listen. So take the next step and do meetings and find a sponsor you can connect with.
I am on Naltrexone too, and definitely a Godsend for me. I am 65 days sober.
Physiatrist can help, I don’t know
why primary care physicians don’t help us.
