On day two of sobriety from alcohol. I am jaundiced and it scares me. I own a bar though and its been difficult. Especially the detoxing at home. Im not sure if i should see a doctor for the jaundice or not. Its christmas and i have a wife and two kids I’d like to spend it with. I would hate to be admitted. Should i just see how the next few days go?

I would suggest you seek medical professional to better guide you with the jaundice and treatment because depending on what type you have will dictate the treatment.

Medical treatment asap! Don’t wait, go now.

Withdrawal is horrible, possibly even fatal, go see a doctor asap. They can help you detox safely and deal with the post acute withdrawal also

Jaundice is never a good sign and detox can be super dangerous so you should definitely seek medical attention. Most likely they will do a blood draw panel to test your liver enzymes and go from there unless your jaundice is really bad.

As for owning a bar, kudos for choosing to get sober with that kind of temptation around, that must be really hard. Lean on your support system.

Yes go to the hospital. Your family will understand.

This exactly. Seek the help you need now instead of later. I understand it's the holidays but one missed Christmas could mean many more to come later,. Don't risk it.

Just my opinion though

I was also jaundice and was immediately taken to the hospital… I would seek medical attention

Steve, first off, I hear you, wanting to be home with your wife and kids for Christmas is everything. But please, your health has to come first. Jaundice (yellowing of the skin/eyes) is a serious sign that your liver is struggling. Detoxing at home from alcohol can also be very dangerous and even life-threatening without professional help. Please don't wait a few days; reach out to a doctor or go to urgent care to make sure you stay safe.
