how do i re direct my dopamine cravings? when does my body & mind begin to feel normal again? what do you use instead of alcohol in social settings? what is your best advice for me right now? ive truly hit rock bottom last night . i dont ever want to pick up a substance again but i have alot of rewiring to do . any advice is appreciated .
Hi, maybe try MAT and therapy. Perhaps AA/NA? Celebrate Recovery, is also an option. Rehab? Do something to move forward. Get unstuck from being stuck.
When in doubt. I go to the gym. It feels great and clears my mind.
Newly sober? Here’s what I did and revisit after 15+ years. Craving alcohol I used sugar chocolate specifically - def don’t recommend long term but having some in the house to help. Drinks - seltzer & cranberry with a twist of lime
‍:green_square: Cleaning out different areas to keep my mind and body busy and cooking! I also went to the doctor and dentist which was neglected for way too long. Last but not least and super important meetings and community! Build a network and get out and do things with them
It’s a day by day battle but eventually you’ll stop the cravings. Try inviting Jesus Christ in your life. Some change instantly others take time. As long as you’re are sincere about change.
Exercise is my new dopamine release. When I’m in a social setting I usually try and offer to be the dd make my friend crowd small so they understand
For me getting a good walk or run in first thing in the morning helps and sets me in a positive mindset for the day. It allows that quiet me time to center myself before the world wakes up
