Not sure where to start but I keep trying to quit drinking but have a hard time staying sober and I really hate the feeling
Good morning Deborah. I did exactly what you’re trying. To be honest I would buy so much alcohol and say ok so much this time and so on and so forth but, I hate to say it it never worked. It just doesn’t work if you’re physically addicted. May I make a suggestion, you can take what you want and leave the rest. The only way I was able to stop drinking was by going into detox/rehab facility. There they gave me meds for withdrawal and meds for cravings plus they monitored me for a little over 9 days. I came out with a recovery team, meds that actually worked and will have 38 months on Sunday. Sometimes this is the route that works the best. I am in RI and they have an amazing detox hospitals here. Good luck and if you really want sobriety sometimes this is the best route. Good luck. One day at a day.

There's a book, Alan Carr's quit drinking without willpower, that has helped me tremendously. It helps remove the desire to drink, so there is no more struggle.
