Not sure why But I’m just struggling today. I’ve had to delete all my social media and cut tons of “friends” out of my life n have found myself feeling alone.
Depending on how far along you are and how comfortable you are in your sobriety, rearranging your priorities may be necessary. I know it feels terrible now, but it will all make sense soon enough. You are sober, right now that is the most important thing. I hope this passes soon for you.
Getting sober will do that for sure especially when all games aside and you really make that switch.
I’m only going on two weeks right now so I know I have to stay strong, thank you and I’m hoping it passes as well
Exactly! I just don’t want to get to a point where I give into temptation.
It's imperative to make sober friends to get through this sh!t.
We all have days like that. Keep reaching out and try to get to a meeting.
Take the word “only” outta there. You are two weeks sober and that is nothing to scoff at! Great job. Just remember feelings get wiser to deal with if you face them and actually deal with them!
I’m on the same boat. I started cutting toxic people out of my life. I’m considering moving out of town or the state. Hang in there. I get it.
That’s common in early sobriety. Going to meetings helps meet other sober people
Two weeks is big. It’s the beginning that’s hardest. Finding yourself and staring at this “recovery road” can be daunting. But when you start walking it it’s worth it. The second you feel alone there’s countless people on this app alone to talk to but there is a world of support. Reach out whenever and keep at it.
Congrats on everyday you have so far.
Thank you for the encouragement.
We sometimes need to do that so all the negativity we are surrounded by and holding on to can be replaced with positive vibes. Cutting people off is good, it means they are toxic and have no place in your life. As for being alone. I know that feeling all to well which is good because we need to learn to be happy with ourselves and love us first before we can even think about being apart of someone elses life and around people who we feel we need. All you really need in life is yourself. Because when s*** hits that fan only one that will always show up is YOU. Don't overthink this and find a hobby to take your mind off things.
I appreciate the knowledge. I definitely understand why I cut them out and other things as well. You are exactly right I will always be there. I will work on that more. Thank you for the advice
Remember your not alone.
The less you know about your "friends" the better.
I just cut someone out of my life that I loved very much but he was no good for me the situation was toxic I binged for two days and hating myself for it,sometimes we have to cut people out if they hurt our mental health I need to be on a road to recovery and dealing with him puts me in a bad spot always.
I'm in the same space. I've had to distance myself from most people in my life and my significant other is still drinking but he's cut way back and that's causing him emotional distress. It feels like a mess. But it's my mess and I am at the center of it trying to heal. And I'm not alone there. Hearing from people like you helped me know that. Love and strength.
I’m here to listen and give you support! When I feel that way, I call a sober friend or a family member and it helps me. Or I read literature.
